MAGNETIC DISTURBANCE PREDICTED

A sunspot, the appearance of which lias led observers to believe that major magnetic disturbances will occur within the next two or three days, began to cross the sun’s meridian yesterday. It is pointed out that there is a time tag of about two days or more between the passing of a sunspot across the meridian and the recording of its greatest effects on the earth. The present spot, the biggest and most active in two years, is more than 200,000 miles in diameter.

From New York comes the cable message that many ot the world's radio communications have already been disrupted, and radio-telephone circuits connecting the continents of Europe and America have been disorganised. Members of the public wishing to view the spot may do so between 9 and 10 o’clock this morning at the Wanganui Observatory.
