CONSECRATION OF NEW BISHOP OF WELLINGTON
DIGNIFIED CEREMONY OF • ANGLICAN CHURCH (P.A.) Wellington. March 9. With the dignified ritual and traditional pageantry of the Anglican Church, the Rev, R. H. Owen, M.A., was to-day elevated from the priesthood to the episcopate by his consecration at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul. To-morrow night he will be enthroned as Bishop of Wellington. The consecration ceremony was performed by the Primate, the Most Rev. Archbishop West-Watson, in the presences of Bishop F. A. Bennett (Aotearoa), P. W. Stephenson (Nelson), W. J. Simkin (Auckland). W. A. R. Fitchett (Dunedin* and 35 clergy of the diocese. A large crowd assembled before the Church as the hour of 10 a.m. arrived. Only a portion were able to gain admittance, which was by ticket.
