LOWER AVERAGES
VICTORIA YEARLING SALES Recd. 7.30 p.m. Melbourne, March 9. On the concluding day of the Victorian yearling sales only four reached four figures. They were the bay filly by Burberry or Dhoti from Genoa, 1350 guineas: brown colt by St. Magnus from Paimy, 1350 guineas; Chestnut colt by Footmark from Richmond Crosse, 1250 guineas; chestnut colt by Portofino from Trench, 1060 guineas. During the three days 219 lots were sold for 135,895 guineas, an average of 6204 guineas. The aggregate was 12,370 guineas less than last year and the average was 106 guineas lower. Last year 41 yearlings were sold for 1000 guineas or over. This yeai 37 yearlings brought 1000 guineas oi over. ' < Yearlings by Dhoti made the highest average. Six by him brought 11,500 guineas, an average of 19161 guineas. Other high averages were: Heios, 11 yearlings at an average of 12064 guineas; Hellespont, 10 yearlings at an average of 1090 guineas; Zaimis, 7' at an average of 1000 guineas.
