REW A INSTITUTE. There was a small attendance at the February meeting, which was presided over by Mrs. Hunter. On account of dry weather having adverse effect on gardens, the flower show, which was to have been held in March, has been postponed till the spring. Nominations were taken foi‘ presidency. The competition for an article suitable for a stall resulted as follows: —Mrs. Michalaney 1, Mrs. L. Thomasen 2, Mrs. Newcombe 3. After afternoon tea, which was served by the hostesses, Mesdames L. Thomasen and Rush, was partaken of, the meeting was closed after the singing of the National Anthem. RAPANUI INSTITUTE The first meeting since the holidays, of the Rapanui W.I. was held in the nail on Thursday, 27th. Mrs. Coates, in the absence of the president, extended a welcome to visitors and friends. There was quite an enjoyable programme, which included delightful songs by Mrs. Howard Lafrd. A demonstration on blind making was given by Mrs. Anderson. There was a round-the-wall competition, conducted by Miss Cooper, and won by Annette Anderson. The competition results were: Best bloom, Mrs. Sharp 1, Mrs. Coates 2, Mrs. Russell 3; three potatoes, Mrs Coates 1, Miss Brown 2, Mrs. Burnet 3. Mrs. Saunders proposed a vote of thanks to all helpers, and the National Anthem concluded a happy afternoon.
