PIPE BAND JUDGES
“In a few years New Zealand per capita will have more qualiiied judges I han any other part of the Empire," stated the president, Mr. lan Cameron, at a conference of the New Zealand Highland Pipe Band Association last night- The association approved a remit from the Otago Centre "that no music judge be asked to judge two contests in succession." “It would be an insult to New Zealand judges if this remit is carried and we get a judge from Australia,” declared a delegate speaking on an Otago remit that an Australian judge be secured for the 1948 contest to be held in Dunedin. The remit was not intended as an insult to the New Zealand judges, said the mover, Mr. T. Gilchrist, in reply. The importation of a judge would give an opportunity to compare standards. The conference decided against an Australian judge.
