Cook then claimed Anderson’s right ankle and worked Into a standing splits, from which Anderson gained a bar toe hold. Just prior to the first gong Cook dumped Anderson hard, and with a body press almost had the Wanganui man’s shoulder', pinned. Anderson opened the second round with a stopper hold, which he turned into an octopus clamp. Cook received severe punishment with this hold, but Anderson could not gain his feet to complete the hold to get the full pressure of his weight, and Cook managed to break, clapping on a lying splits. Anderson then claimed the Wellington man's wrist, and with a hard knee smash into his chest he brought him down with a crash, the crucifix which followed being broken by the gong. The referee warned him, but Cook persisted, and then refused to break his hold when ordered to do so, a penalty fall being awarded against him. Cook was obviously angry with the decision and at the opening of the last round dashed out fiercely. Anderson stopped him with a flying body scissors, but Cook brought him down and pinned him for the count of one. Anderson got underneath Cook and lifted him over the ropes and threw him out of the ring Anderson was trying for his special hold, the “River City Crab” at the finish, and as he practically succeeded, the final gong went, saving the Wellington man the pain which Prestney sustained in his last visit to Wanganui.
