CLEARING SALE AT WESTERHILL, FEILDING

Dalgety and Co., Ltd. (Inc. in England) report having held a most successful clearing sale of live and dead stock on account of the G. F. Johnston Estate, Westerhill, Feilding, on Tuesday last, the 28th instant. There was -a large attendance of buyers from the Waikato, Wanganui, Rangitikei, and surrounding districts. The Westerhill flock was renowned for its breeding and constitution and the flock of 2500 ewes and 800 ewe lambs came forward in excellent order and condition. Competition was keen from the outset and an excellent sale resulted at prices fully up to expectations. The main line of 2-tooth ewes sold at 36s Id, 4-tooths 34s Id, 6tooths 29s 4d, and the 4-year-olds 28s lOd. The ewe lambs were an attracive line and a pen of 702 realised 26s 6d. The station hacks also sold to a good inquiry. Farm implements and sundries, etc., commanded keen competition, with prices fully firm on recent clearing sales. Quotations: 2-th ewes, 36s Id to 34s 9d; 4-th ewes, 345; 6-th ewes, 29s 4d; 4-year ewes, 28s lOd; 5-year ewes, 23s 3d; ewe lambs, 26s 6d; wether lambs, 20s; station hacks, to £l4 10s; R. and G. drill, £37 10s; light dray, £ll 10s; D.F. plough, £l6; circular saw, £8; riding saddles, £8 to £l7 10s; roller, £25 10s; tarpaulin, £10; harness, shearing gear, sundries, etc., made full market rates.
