INDONESIAN ARMY MEN MURDER AUSTRALIANS

Recd. 12.52 a.m. Batavia, Jan. 21. The Dutch nows agency reports that documents in the hands of the Dutch authorities prove that Indonesian Army men murdered three Australian Army officers who were ambushed near Buitenzorg in April, 1946. When the Indonesians discovered a fourth officer had escaped they plotted to fasten the guilt on two Japanese deserters from the Indonesian Army. The Indonesian civil authorities, fearing an investigation, ordered hand grenades to be passed into the prison with which the Japanese committed suicide. Dutch investigations also disclosed that a man guilty of murdering a British major and a woman Red Cross worker at Padang, in December, 1945, was released after serving 14 days of a 17-year sentence.
