CRIPPS DID NOT CREEP. That is as it should be. Tne place where oil has been found is long overdue for its rightful place in Wanganui’s sun as a thriving suburb. If ever Wanganui is to have the equivalent of the Hutt. Valley it will be out "Upuk" way. We never quite know whether to call the place Opokongaro or Makirikiri, as so many people seem to like. Possibly Makirikiri is nicer sounding and falls off the tongue in more liquid fashion than Upokongaro. But that place, whether you call in "Upuk” or by the more dignified name oi Makirikiri, is in need foi’jA little brushing up.
