CANADA LIFTS CONTROL ON WAGES AND SALARIES
Ottawa, Nov. 30.
Wartime controls on wages and salaries in Canada will be removed tomorrow, states the Prime Minister, Mr. Mackenzie King. This course was justified by the expansion of purchasing power. Furthermore, certain inevitable increases in costs made some price increases unavoidable. The Government’s policy respecting price and rent control was unchanged. The experience of other countries had increased the Government's determination that controls be removed gradually, and in an orderly manner, to protect living standards and value of the people’s war savings.
