LADY FOXBRIDGE HAD EASY WIN

KING GEORGE HANDICAP AT AVONDALE

(Special) Auckland, Dec. 2. Confidently backed in the King George Handicap at. Avondale on Saturday, Lady Foxbridge registered an easy win from a field which was useful if not strong in quality, though one or two runners fancied on recent form failed to give of their best. Winner of the Great Northern Derby 11 months ago and placed in two of her three earlier starts this season, Lady was well placed at 8 3 and she scored too convincingly for any excuses to be made for her opponents. She is likely to come into favour for the Auckland Cup, in which she has been handicapped at 7.6. Lady Foxhridge jumped out well but Ra Ora soon took up the role of pacemaker, followed by Cracroft and Lady Foxbridgo. There was little change throughout, with Jayquil at lhe rear but never more than half a dozen lengths behind Ra Ora, who led into the home stretch. She was quickly joined by Lady Foxbridge as they straightened up for the run to the judge, and there was only a short struggle before the favourite asserted her claim beyond the distance pos‘. From there to the finishing line she was never i-a danger of defeat, and she ran on for a comfortable victory. South Riding came home strongly well clear of Jayquil, who was at long odds. Ra Ora. fourth, was followed by the veteran Rakanui, with the Hamilton winner. United Nations, next, and Te Hincmoa, Bat al and Cracroft the rear division. The lastnamed petered out over the final stages, just when he was expected to I finish on. South Riding went one of his best races, and Jayquil stayed on in promising fashion. Ra Ora made a promising debut in open company after her sensational long-priced victory at. Ellerslie last month. The others were not impressive. Sleepy Fox, with 10 13 in the saddle, added yet another win to his growing list of sprint successes. He was never in danger of defeat in the Sheriff Handicap at Avondale on Saturday, although Prince Revel was going much faster at the post than anything else in the race to get to within almost a length of the winner. Flowerburn did not take long to get to the front, and he was just ahead at the home turn from Kronos, Sleepy Fox, Diamond Doll and Neneta. Below the distance Sleepy Fox had worried Flowerburn out of the lead and went on to score decisively. Prince Revel came from the clouds to head off the tiring Flowerburn for second. Mahia Park was a fair fourth and is a likely improver. Kenwyn and Exeter followed, and Exeter in particular is beginning to get into real racing shape.
