ENTRIES FOR TRENTHAM SALE!' NEXT JANUARY The 1947 National Sales are set down for January 16, 17, 23, and 24, the extension in days having been necessitated by a record entry. Last year the entry of 372 yearlings was a record, but this has now been eclipsed. Actually, the entries originally numbered 544, but on the recommendation of the auctioneers the entries were culled by the breeders to 465. No fewer than 70 sires will be represented, those with the largest representation being:—Balloch, 20 colts and 11 fillies; Robin Goodfellow, 15 and 9 respectively; Probation, 10 and 11; Foxbridge, 13 and 5; Nizami, 15 and 3; Finis, 14 and 3; Arvakur, 8 and 7; Battle Song, 11 and 4; Beau Vite, 8 and 7; Airway, 5 and 8; Bulandshar, 8 and 5; Ninth Duke, 6 and 6; Neptune, 3 and 9; Coronach, 6 and 5; Beau Repaire, 7 and 4; Tiderace, 8 and 3; Theio, 4 and 6; Kincardine, 4 and 5; Broiefort, 5 and 4; Leighon, 2 and 6; Chatsworth, 5 and 3; Salmagundi, 4 and 4; Cambria Park, 3 and 4; Contact. 3 and 4; Medieval Knight, 3 and 4; Revelation, 5 and 2, etc. New stallions to be represented for the first time include Airway (by Fairway), Pherozshah (by Pharos), both of whom sired winners in England or Ireland, and the younger stallions Probation, one of the Son-in-Law line, and who is closely re.ated to the leading Australian and American champion sires, Lawmaker and Rhodes Scholar, and also Felous, winner of the Newmarket Stakes in England, and a halfbrother to Midas (by Solario), second to Dante in the Derby. The mixed catalogue of brood mares, stallions, horses in training, and untried'stock, which will also be of record dimensions, will be submitted on Monday, January 27.
