CANDIDATES’ MEETINGS

Parliamentary candidates are speeding up their campaigning for the final three weeks before polling day. The National Party candidiMe for Wanganui, Mi 1 . E. W. Merewether, next week, will speak in the St. John s Club Hall on Monday night, Brassey Road schoolroom on Tuesday, and Wanganui East Town Hall on Wednesday. Mr. W. Sullivan, member for Bay of Hlenty in the late Parliament, will also speak at the latter meeting.

A further series of meetings is to be addressed by Mr. J. B. Cotterill in furtherance of his campaign as Labour candidate for Wanganui. On Wednesday next he speaks at Kaitoke, Fordell on the following night, and at Okoia on Saturday week. Mr. Cotterill Is also addressing day meetings at many city factories. Meetings to date have been well attended and Mr. Cotterill has been given attentive hearings.

Mr. R. J. O'Dea, Labour candidate for Patea, wiil speak at Patea tonight, Westmere to-morrow night, and Okaiawa on Tuesday night. Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, Prime Minister, is to visit Wanganui on Friday, November 15, in continuation of his North Island tour. He will address a meeting of electors in the Opera House on that night and will be accompanied on the platform by the Labour Party candidates for Wanganui and district electorates. Mr. E. B. Gordon, who holds the Rangitikei seat in the National Party interests, will continue his campaign for re-election with an address at Rangiwahia Hall to-night. Greatford School will be the venue of a meeting at 2.30 to-morrow afternoon, and he wiil be at the Ohingaiti Hall at night. On Monday night he will give an address at Waituna West Hali. His opponent, Mr. Denzil Capstick, will speak at Parewanui to-night. In the Waimarino electorate, the National Party candidate, Mr. Norman Hill, will deliver an address at Theatre Royal, Raetihk on Monday night and this will follow a meeting al Pipiriki Hall at 3 p.m. Monday. MEETING AT FORD ELL. At a meeting at Fordell last night, Mr. E. B. Gordon (Rangitikei), and Mr. E. W. Merewether (Wanganui) gave an outline of the National Parly's policy. The meeting was well attended and a vote of thanks and confidence, moved by Mr. D. McGregor and seconded by Mr. A. H. Collins, was carried unanimously.
