MR. LANGSTONE URGES PRINTING OF NOTES IN NEW ZEALAND
Wellington, Oct. 5. A suggestion that the Government Printing Office should printe the New Zealand notes instead of having them printed in London by Thomas de la Rue and Company, Limited, was advocated hy Mr. Langstone (Govt., Waimarino) during consideration of the departmental estimates. He said it was a common-sense sensible thing to do. Some Opposition members seemed to think there was somethin;; sinister in having the notes printed here. Mr. Langstone also expressed the hope that the time was not fai distant when five-shilling notes would be issued.
Mr. O’Brien, Minister in charge o the Government Printing and Stationery Office, did not reply to Mr. Lang--tone’s suggestion.
