JAPANESE PLOTTED TO ASSASSINATE STALIN
Washington, Sept. 22. The Japanese Ambassador in Berlin, General Oshima, early in 1939 secretly informed Himmler of a Japanese plot to assassinate Stalin, according to lhe latest United States Government document in the series "Nazi conspiracy and aggression.'' Himmler conferred with Oshima on January 1, 1939, regarding long-range Japanese and German espionage projects, aimed at Russian disintegration so as to help in the event of war. Himmler was reported to have told Oshima that he had succeeded in sending 10 Russians* armed with bombs across the frontier to kill Stalin.
