RIFT EVIDENT IN S. TARANAKI R.S.A.
Hawera, Oct. 4. Nine members of the executive committee of the South Taranaki branch of the R.S.A., including the president. Mr. J. Houston, tendered their resignations. to become effective from the next quarterly meeting in about a months time, at an extraordinary general meeting of the association in the club rooms, Hawera. last night. The other eight were Messrs. M. C. [Crighton, a gold star member with 25 years’ service; A. K. Fryson, immeciiate past president; H. J. uaurenf, ~. F Marshall-Smith. R. Ure, W. O’Shannessy, A. L. Morgan, and S. I. Richards. These committee members announced their resignations following the carrying of a motion stating that the meeting had the fullest confidence in eight members of the executive committee, whore resignatic the meeting was called to consular and that it did not accept their offers to resign.
The meeting was called because of the alleged failure of the president to carry out lhe wishes of the nssoelation in that, having accepter] the office of president at the last annual meeting, when a mandate was given to the executive providing for the supply of liquor in the club, he did '6ot vote in favour of the provision of such liquor when the matter was considered by the club management committee on September 11.
The executive committee members who were offering their resignations were Messrs. R. Ure. W. O’Shannessy, R. J. O'Dea, D. O'Dea. A. L. Morgan, C Johnston, F. S. Dallinger and S. I. Richards.
