Garner jnr. was the lucky winner ol a mystery parcel wnicn was drawn during tne afternoon tea interval. One member received a parcel from the oirihuay box to the accompaniment of the birthday song sung by fellow members. Mrs. Fowler, Mrs. Garner snr., and [Mrs. Burston volunteered to demonstrate the arrangement of three troughs of spring dowers and the effect achieved was most picas.ng and artistic. The most outstanding feature ol the afternon was the first display of a large variety of articles made by the Arts and Crafts Circle, which was inaugurated six months ago. The president congratulated memoers on their splendid effort and presented the floating trophy which was won by Mrs. Hawkins. Brisk business was transacted at , the bring and buy stall and the splen- J did plant stall. The proceeds of Doth ; these stalls being in aid of institute ' funds. | The motto for the afternoon was given by Mrs. Higgins. Hostesses for the November meeting will be Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Johns. Competition results were:—Posy in an egg cup, Mrs. Campbell 1, Mrs. Garner jnr 2, Mrs. Burston 3. Three polyanthus, Mrs. Burston 1, Mrs. Garner jnr 2, Mrs. Hunt 3. Best flower, Mrs. Fowler 1, Mrs. Hunt 2, Mrs. Shanks 3. Article made from check and plain material, Mrs. Hunt 1, Mrs. Garner jnr. 2. Jam tart made with dripping, Mrs. Hawkins 1, Mrs. Campbell 2, Mrs. Service 3.
