OVERLOOKED

RANGITIKEI PLAYERS’ GOOD FORM

To “Crossbar,” Dear Sir, —I have witnessed most of the games that Wanganui have participated in this season and have been far from impressed with their display each time. The real weakness lies in their backs.

Rangitikei have not received fair treatment in the selection of the Wanganui representative team. One has just, to recall such players as Peina, Pot aka, R. Walker, R. Simpson, J. Waters, I. Mclntyre, and numerous others. It is usual that Rangitikei is not allowed representation on the selection committee. The first game of the season, played between Rangatahi and Hunterville, reached greater heights than any erf the rep. games that I witnessed. Hunterville seniors (Rangitikei) played eight games this season without having their line crossed. They only lost one game in two seasons. This is in itself a notable achievement.

Following is the Wanganui team that should acquit iself well: Fullback, I. McDonald (Rangitikei); three-quarters, D. McCarthy (Taihape), I. Ulston (Rangitikei), H. England (Rangitikei); five-eighths, A. Renshaw and J. Potaka (Rangitikei); half-back. R. Best (Wanganui); front row, Whiskey (Taihape), N. Brown (Wanganui), and B. Pedley (Wanganui); middle row, Adams (Rangitikei), C. McNichol (Taihape), A. G. Davidson (Wanganui), and McCulloch (Taihape); back row, E. V. Bellis (Wanganui).—Yours faithfully, R. K. HOWE, Hunterville, Oct. 1, 1946.
