ANZAC DAY SERVICES

WANGANUI PRESBYTERYS CONCERN

Concern at the proposal being sent out by the New Zealand Returned Services’ Association for Anzac Day services was expressed by the Wanganui Presbytery, at its meeting in St. Andrew’s Hall, Palmerston North, recently.

Delegates from, the Presbyterian Church in all parts of the area covered by the Wanganui Presbytery wer* present. The following resolution, received from the Presbytery of Wellington. was unanimously endorsed: "This Presbytery views with grave concern the proposal being sent out by the executive of the N.Z.R.S.A. for Anzac Day services. The Presbytery feels that the expressed religious elements in the service—prayers, Scripture reading and Benediction —constitute an integral part of the service, and vital also. Any order of service which excludes these elements will fall short of that desired by the majority of the people participating."
