TEAMS ANNOUNCED League football in this district will have its big boom to-morrow when the inter-provincial fixture between Wellington and Taranaki will be played on Cook’s Gardens, commencing at 3 p.m. As a curtain raiser a Maori v. Pakeha game will be played, with the starting time set for 1.30 p.m. WELLINGTON-TARANAKI The teams will be:— Wellington (black with gold mono-gram).—Full-back, J. Hemi; threequarters, D. Helford, Evans, Jamieson; five-eighths, Tawhiwhirangi, Solomon; half-back, Hawkins; forwards, J. Cootes, Belton, Courtenay, Andrews, Moses, H. Grey. Reserves: Mulcare and Shanahan. The main game will give Wanganui a chance to see some of the leading exponents of league in New Zealand in action. Jack Hemi and Joe Cootes, who will be turning out for Wellington, have both been New Zealand, Auckland, North Island, Wellington and N.Z. Maori representatives. Both Solomon and Moses have reached North Island representative standard, while Jamison is an ex West Coast representative. The result of the Grand National Steeplechase will be broadcast from the grounds, as will progress results of the Kiwi Rugby game.
