NEW BASIS FOR BULK PURCHASE CONTRACTS

TALKS IN LONDON London, July 15. If is understood that negotiations between the United Kingdom and New Zealand Governments on the revision of the bulk purchase contracts lor the supply of Dominion foodstuffs to Britain are now being concluded. Before be left London the Minister of Finance, Mr. W. Nash, stated that he had no doubt that they would “conclude to the satisfaction of both Governments” and that ne would make a report to his Government immediately on his return to New Zealand. No details are at present available in London, but it is believed to be quite likely that when Mr Nash makes a statement it will be found that the contracts are exiti.'cd for a further term, and that the agre uaents which were to run from 1914 to 1948 may not be extended to 1950. Nev.Zealand may receive an increase n prices for her produce.

The discussions '.ere nrotrae'ed, and were conducted between Mr. Nash and his advisers, including Messrs. B. Ashwin, H. Davis. Duncan and Pottinger, and De. Hugh Dalton and Mr. John Strachey of the British Government. Members of the New Zealand Farmers’ delegation, who were in London at the time were also consulted.
