EX-SERVICEMEN'S NEW BOWLING CLUB

GREEK NEARS COMPLETION As the formation of the servicemens bowling green is now well advanced, it has been necessary to form a wording committee of intending members of the ciub to assist the City Council generally in completing the green. For this reason a meeting of ex-servicemen was held on Tuesday night, when there was a fair attendance of returned servicemen as well as representatives of the Home Servicemen’s Association. Discussion on the question as to whether the club membership should be confined solely to returned men disclosed that the majority were in favour of admitting Home Servicemen to the club. As a result it was decided that the club be designated the United Servicemen's Bowling Club. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. C. S. Smith; vice-pre-sident, Mr. W. Bourne, hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. C. Aitken; committee. Messrs. L. A. Kinzett, D. T. Bed. J. Johnson, P. Durrant, H. Whife. P. M. Phelan. F. U. Booth, M. Stewart. A. J. Pritchard, F. Beattie, W. Pepper, G. I. Jones. G. W. Sampson, A. Tong, T. N. Hay-Camp-bell. Provided transport can be arranged there is an offer of clay and soil for the formation of the green. The committee would therefore be grateful for anv offers of assistance in this directic' 1 . Now that the green is taking shape, increasing interest is being taken in the club, and this augurs well for the success of the venture. WANGAEHU CO-OP.
