N.Z. HOTELS PRAISED VISITOR IMPRESSED
(P.A.) Wellington, July 15. "The standards maintained in New Zealand hotels to-day are as nign as those to be found anywhere in the world,” declared Mr. R. C. Fraser, representative of the well-known British journal, "Caterer and Hotelkeeper,” who is visit.ng hotels in the Dominions on behalf of his paper. "Your hotels will please the tourists when they come.’’ Mr. Fraser, interviewed to-night, said that nowhere could hotels measure up to pre-war standards because of the setback suffered in the war years. In New Zealand, however, he was agreeably surprised t-o discover mat hotel standards had been maintained at a very high level. In Britain conditions had become so di illcult that in many hotels guests were required to bring their own towels, jn some oven their own sheets, in America bath queues were still the order of the day in many hotels. The service in New Zealand hotels compared very favourably with ihat in Australia and South African establishments.
Mr. Fraser said he believed New Zealand would be in a good position to win tourist trade, and tourists, when they came, would be well pleased with Ihe service they would get. Accommodation charges here were very reasonable compared with those ruling overseas.
