CHICKEN-POX AND MEASLES
BRIDE SHIP MONTEREY FOR ALL THAT. THE JOURNEY WAS PLEASANT Recd. 9.5 p.m. San Francisco, April 22 With a yellow flag flying at the masthead, the Mont ere’’ with 754 Australian and New Zealand war brides and children aboard, berthed to-day. One day out from Suva chicken-pox and measles broke out among the brides and children. Before anyone was permitted to board the liner to-day, 16 infants were carried off in bassinettes for quarantine before continuing their journeys. Despite the illnesses the consensus of opinion among the passengers was that the trio was extremely pleasant. The sea was smooth throughout, the meals first-rate and Army and Navy personnel considerate. Regimentation was kept to a minimum.
