HCTEL AT TAIHAPE RELIEVED OF £360
Without blowing the safe, a person or persons unknown removed £360 worth of the cash contents of the safe at lhe Gretna Hotel. Taihape. during the week-end. Although the sum removed was substantial, the thieves evidently were not very thorough on 1 heir job, because they missed other money left in the drawers. The discovery was made by the proprietor’s wife when she fried to turn the key in the lock to open the safe, but found it difficult to manipulate. Th* safe is kent in the manager’s offico on lhe ground fioflr. The theft took place apparently without any disturbance being caused, for there was a night norter nn dufv. and lhe several occupants of the hotel heard or saw nothing untoward happen.
