WOMAN STOWAWAY
FIVE MONTHS IN A MANILA GAOL Sydney, April 10. A young woman who stowed away in an American steamer lust October arrived back in Sydney in the ship John W. Troy, after spending five months in a Manila prison. She was discovered when only two hours out of Sydney and was imprisoned in Bilibed gaol, Manila, for illegally entering the Philippines. She claimed that conditions in the gaol were primitive, and that she was in a cell with Filipino women, some of whom were insane and diseased. Her object was to reach the United State, where she claims to have an American fiance.
