WELL-KNOWN AGRICULTURAL JOURNALIST DEAD
(P.A.) Christchurch, April 10. Mr. Hans Alexander Martin, a wellknown agricultural journalist, died to-day after a lengthy illness. Under the pen-name of “Straggler," he contributed farm news to the "Press” for 26 years. He was aged 69. Mr. Martin received his early journalistic trailing in Southland, workiig on the Gore "Standard” for seven or eight years. He worked for newspapers in Auckland. During the 191418 war he was in camp, but did not go overseas. He then served on the Clutha “Leader” for eighteen months, and joined the staff of the "Press" in 1920. He was widely known throughout New Zealand and his expert knowledge on many aspects of farming were often sought.
