MANUAL WORKERS’ PAY IN BRITAIN Special Correspondent—N.Z P.A. London, March 7. The average earnings of more than 5,250,000 manual workers in Britain, men and boys, women and girls, in the 'manufacturing industries and in some principal non-manufacturing industries rose by 80 per cent, between October, 1938, the latest pre-war date for which figures are available, and July 21, last year. The average weekly earnings for all these workers was £4 16s Id in July, compared with £4] 13s 9d in the previous January and/£2 13s 3d in October, 1938. '
