WOMEN’S SOFTBALL
MATCHES WITH WEI.LINGTON
During the week-end two teams from the Wanganui Women’s Softball Association visited Wellington and games were played between flrst-year players and representative teams. Wanganui was successful in lhe representative match, 19-9, while the junior match was won by Wellington by one run after an additional innings had been played. For first-year players the play was really good.
For the juniors, S. Marshall pitched a Very good game and was also the highest scorer with three runs—one of which was a home run. R. Nimmo, as catcher, also played a good game. For the seniors, M. Mclntyre pitched well and was responsible for keeping iWellington runs down. There were two excellent hits in this game, one by L. Jenkins, of Wellington, who scored a home run, and one by A. Hood, of Wanganui, who, through a misunderstanding at third base, failed to score, the runner being tagged out just before reaching the home plate. The following are the details of the play:— JUNIOR Wellington: 0,6, 3,0, 0,0, 4.1—14. Wanganui: 0,0, 0,1, 2. 0. 10, o—l 3. Most runs for Wanganui: S. Marshall, 3. Most runs for Wellington: E. Grade and Smith, 3 each. SENIOR Wanganui: 1,4, 1,2, 1,5, 5—19. Wellington: 6,0, 1,2, 0, 0. o—9. Most runs for Wanganui: M. McIntyre, 4. Most runs for Wellington: S. Jenkins, 2. The pitching and fielding analysis was as follows: Wanganui.—Pitching: Strike outs 11, walks 0. Fielding: Fielded out 3, caught, out 7. Wellington.- Pitching: Strike outs 2. walks 17. Fielding: Fielded out 7, caught out 7. SOFTBALL DRAW
