SCIENTIST AT OOW STREET GAVE AWAY ATOMIC ENERY INFORMATION London, March 5. Dr. Alan Nunnmay, after a brief appearance in the Bow Street. Magistrate's Court, was remanded until March 19. The prosecutor’ said he was on a very serious charge, and added: "The defendant is a scienti. t employed by the Ministry of Supply on research work into atomic energy. His work lay in Canada. “He is charged on his own admission with having communicated information relating to atomic e.tergv to another person, but refuses to disclose the person or name the nationality.’’ Students, servicemen and women queued ou.side Bow Street Court today to hear the charge, against Nunnmay. Proceedings lasted only a few minutes, but more than 100 people crowded the courtroom.

The charge under the Official Secrets Act, 1911, was that he “for a purpose prejudicial to the interests of ihe safety of the State communicated to some person unknown certain information calculated to be or which might be directly or indirectly useful to an enemy.’’ Mr. H. A. K. Morgan, for ihe prosecution, said that more inquiries were going on.

A detective-inspector from Scotland Yard’s special branch gave forma, evidence of the arre t. He said Nunnmay did not reply when arrested and charged. The Press Association describes Nunnmay as being of studious appearance, looking older than his 34 years.
