THE BY-ELECTION We have decided to enter (4je City Council by-election campaign. We have entered it in the interests of the “Tobacco Party." We have sent to the candidates, both of them, a questionnaire, composed of one question: “Are you in favour of free sale ot cigarettes and tobacco in Wanganui, unhindered by Government interference? (Note: We warn you that it you answer “no" to the above question we will vote against you, but, to cheer you up, this Is how we feel: You can have your crematorium, all its minarets; Our weary soul's for sale for a packet of cigarettes. We’ll never talk of rival beauties of the Waikato But the council seat is yours if youli sell us tobacco. —“Sandy.” Wanganui, Jan. 18, 1946. (Note, to those who keep the laws’.
