PILOT-INSTRUCTOR TO AERO CLUB
HAWKE’S BAY APPOINTMENT (P.A.) Hastings, Jan. 18. The appointment of SquadronLeader M. T. Vanderpump, D.F.C. and its American equivalent, as pilot-in-structor to the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast Aero Club, is announced. Squadaron-Leader Vanderpump is a son of Wairoa residents, with 2700 hours flying to his credit with the R.N.Z.A.F. since early in 1940. He has completed, in addition, about 400 passenger tours in civil and military aircraft, half of which were carried out in the co-pilot’s seat. He has had 1700 hours as flying instructor, and a further 1000 hours operational flying in Burma and the Pacific theatres of war.
