ELECTIONS IN JAPAN
Recd. 7 p.m. Tokio, Jan. 11. General MacArthur authorised elections in Japan an}' time after March 15. He stressed the importance of ensuring a secret ballot and free expression.
The Associated Press comments that the election had. been tentatively scheduled for late January, but the Kyodo news agency predicted a postponement to enable the elimination of candidates who were ultra nationalists and warmakers.
