NEW POLITICAL PARTY IN TURKEY
Recd. 9 p.m. London, Jan. 9. The one-party system of Government in Turkey ended yesterday with the formation of a new Democratic Party, under the leadership of Mr. Jelal Bayar, who was Prime Minister in 1938, says the Ankara radio. The announcement stated that the new party had obtained all the necessary permissions from the Minister of the Interior. Bayar was quoted as saying the party approved of the Turkish Constitution and favoured a foreign policy based on “collective security, political and economic cooperation and good neighbourly relations with all Turkey’s neighbours.”
