GOVERNOR OF MALTA IN WAR YEARS
SIR W. DOEBIE TO VISIT NEW ZEALAND

Auckland, Jan. 8 One of Britain's famous soldiers, Lieu .enant - General sir William Dobbie, G.C.M.G., K.C.8., D. 5.0., who won world renown as the Governor and Commandcr-in-Chief of Malta duiing the perilous years of 1941) to 1942, will arrive at Wellington early next month on an eight weeks’ visit to New ealand. He u expected to arrive at Auckland about the middle of February and will spend more than a week in tiie city. Sir William, who is accompanied by Lady Dobbie, is travelling in the liner Themistoeles, which is due at Wellington on February 3. His visit is sponsored hy the New Zealand Bible Training Institute, and. Mr. R. A. Laidlaw, of Auckland, and he will be the guest of the Government dur. mg his slay. vVhen Sir William returned to Britain from Malta he addressed a very large audience on the i.land's ordeal, and it is understood he will speak on the same subject in New Zealand. Sir William, who is a Plymouth Brother, will also address religious gatherings and groups of young people.
