DEATH OF MR. R. COULTER, M.P. FOR RAGLAN
Mr. Robert Coulter, M.P. for Raglan, d ecl on Monday at Timaru at the age of 54 years. He had been spending Christmas with his brother and sister.
Before his election to Parliament, Mr. Coulter had much experience of local government, having been for more than 20 years a member of the Te Aroha Borough Council and for many years Mayor of the town. For about 20 years he was also a member of the Thames Harbour Board. He made his entrance into Parliament in the Labour landslide of 1935, when he won the Waikato seat, but he was defeated by Mr. J. M. Allen in 1938. He won the Raglan seat when the former Minister of Agriculture, Hon. W. LeeMartin, retired. r
