SCOUT EXTINING There was ap leasant evening held in Bulls recently, the occasion being the annual breaking-up ceremony of the Boy Scouts. There was a large gathering of parents and friends and the Dominion Chief Scout Commissioner (Miss Nancy Wilson) was in attendance. Miss Wilson congratulated the troop on its high standard of efficiency which was all the more pleasing to her as it was no less than 2.) years since she had first organised the first troop in Bulls. Miss Wilson complimented the Scoutmaster on his enthusiasm who is, at the moment, conducting threetroops. Miss Wilson then presented the following with badges:—Tenderfoot, D. Kendall, W. Kendall, W. Linklater, J. Cozens; second class, N. Whiteman, J. O’Connell, D. Crocker, B. Crocker, T. Crocker, P. Cozens, J. Cozens, Francis Dickie, J. Ellery, W. Brornly. During the evening a number of boys were sworn into the movement. A •silver sup donated by Mr. and Mrs. Meyer, of Sanson, for competition between the Bulls and Sanson troop was won by Sanson. During proceedings the chairman, Mr. Broughton, thanked all for at.ending and referred to the excellent work of the scoutmaster, Mr. E. Richardson, who had to come from Sanson on each scout night As a mark of appreciation, Mr Broughton, on behalf of the Bulls troop, presented the scoutmaster with a srnalj gift. Mr. Richardson suitably replied. , Entertainment took the form of dancing and games, and a most nleasant evening came to a close with the singing of Auld Lang Syne and he National Anthem. TENNIS CLUB A match was held last week-end against Onakea, the Bulls team once again proving the victors, winning by nine sets to seven. Results are as follows. Bulls players being mentioned first:— Ladies’ Singles.—Broughton beat Ropiha, 9-8; Hoskin beat Hoby, 9-3; Adin lost to Gavin, 8-9; Stock lost to Smellie, 5-9. Men’s Singles.—Montgomerie lost io Geo.ge, 8-9; O’Connell lost to Healey, 6-9; Stock lost to Neil, 5-9; Ralfe beau Tilbury, 9-2. Ladies’ Doubles —Broughton and Hoskin beat Ropiha and Hoby, 9-1; Adin and Sleek beat Gavin and Smellie, 9-7. Men’s Doubles.— O’Connell and Stock lost to George and Healey, 3-9; Montgomerie and Ralfe beat Neil and filbury, 9-6. Combined Doubles.— Montgomerie and Broughton beat George and Ropiha, 9-4; O’Connell and Stock los Io Healey and Hoby, 6-9; Stock and Adin beat Neil and Gavin, 9-5; Ralfe and Hoskin Tilbury and Smellie, 9-1. The match that was to have been held next week-end has been cancelled.
