GERMAN TORPEDOES
TWO INGENIOUS TYPES FOUND
Recd. 6 p.m. London, Nov. 22. Details of two new German torpedoes are in the possession of the Royal Navy, says the “Daily Telegraph.’ Both torpedoes were in the production stage and almost ready for action when the war ended. The torpedoes were discovered at the Germans’ naval testing station at Eckenford, Schleswig-Holstein. More than 60,000 torpedoes of these new types were found in this depot. One type, which is wire controlled, pays out a wire from the stern until the target is reached. Naval officers said: “It is uncanny to watch' the torpedo trail the ship, following every twist and turn until it strikes home.” The other type is acoustic and is attracted by the sound of waves from lhe target. It. leaves no wake to betray its course.
