ROUND THE GREENS

SATURDAY’S BOWLING RESULTS Under fine weather conditions, though a high cross wind at, times proved tricky, the fourth round of the various club fours competitions was played on various Wanganui bowling greens on Saturday. In addition there was a challenge match for the Bannerette at the Gonville green, the defenders (Gonville) retaining the trophy after just managing a draw with the Ohakune challengers. ST. JOHN’S CLUB

As a change from the club fours Saturday games, the St. John’s Club engaged in what is known as the “Pepper Fours.” These games were suggested by the late president, Mr. Aurthur Pepper, whereby players play in positions other than those in which they are classified. Club skips are divided, half playing skip and half three in the A section games, club threes playing half as lead in this section and half as skips in B lection games. Leads play half as twos in A games and half as threes in B section. Half of the twos play lead and half two in B games. Selection is made alternatively from the beginning and the end of the alphabet. On this occasion they were drawn from the end. Resul<s of games are:—
