BROADCASTS MUST NOT OFFEND NATIONS
ORDERS IN AUSTRALIA Recd. 9 p.m. Canberra, Nov. 23. Australia's short-wave service in future will not be allowed to broadcast anything offensive to other nations. An officer of the External Affairs Department will be stationed in Melbourne to supervise comment Of a political nature, or affecting the Commonwealth's external relations. This announcement by the Prime Minister, Mr. Chifley, is the outcome of recent broadcasts in which Britain and America were criticised for their attitude towards the Indonesian problem, and which brought a protest from the Commander in South-east Asia, Lord Louis Mountbatten.
