ILLEGALLY WORE R.S.A. BADGE

(P.A.) Wellington, Nov. 23. Wearing a Returned Services’ Association badge when he was not entitled to do so, cost Arthur Albert George Byron, aged 19, £3 when he appeared before the magistrate, Mr. JH. J. Thompson, in the Lower Court. A detective said the accused had been seen in Lower Hutt wearing the badge, and, when questioned, admitted having it in his lapel for four or five months since he found it. He had also admitted leading people to believe, by his conversation and through wearing the badge, that he had served overseas, while actually he never served in the forces. “I regard this as a serious matter, but, in view of his youth, he will be convicted and fined £3,” said the magistrate.
