WESTMERE W.I.

The November meeting of the Westmere W.I. was presided over by Mrs. 11. Flynn, who welcomed a fair attendance of members and visitors, also one new member. Mrs. Simmons, a delegate to the recent half-yearly council meeting, gave a comprehensive report on same. Miss Edith Davidson entertained with two most enjoyable vocal solos. A talk by Mr. Douglas Ngan Kee on “Life in China and his experiences a| a University in China” was listened to with great, interest, all being very impressed by this young and eapab'e speaker. A “Quiz” on National Anthems was given by Miss E. Smith. A social competition was won bv Mrs. Simmons. In the senior competition “Quilting,” Mrs E. Prince was Ist ~ 2nd. and 3rd. Junior competition. G coconut buttons. Miss I. Smart Ist. Miss N. Laird 2nd., Miss V. Kumeroa 3rd. Best flower competition, Mrs. IT. Flynn Ist., Mrs. F. l.iirdand Mrs. S. Laird equal 2nd. There was much interest in a display of articles from other countries. Members were reminded of the December nievtin.’. to celebrate the 15th. birthday. Mrs. A. 11.
