BANK BILL READ A SECOND TIME

COMMITTEE STAGE NEXT WEEK
(P.A.) Parliament Bldgs., Nov. 16 The Bank of New Zealand Bill passed its second reading in the House of Representatives early this morning after a long sitting. At 12.25 a.m. the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, moved the application ot the closure. This course was challenged by lhe Opposition, who called for a division. The closure motion was agreed to by 39 vetes to 34. The Bill was read a second lime at 12.41 a.m. by 39 votes to 34. * Befoi e the House rose there was a brief discussion on the remaining bu.-dness of the session. Mr. Fraser indicated that the Estimates would be considered to-day and on Monday, after which the committee stages of the Bank of New Zealand Bill would be taken. Mr. Fraser said he hoped the session would end in the first week of December. Bills still to be brought down included the Airways Bill.
