FRENCH CABINET
COMMUNISTS COMPLAIN TO DE GAULLE SPLIT LIKELY AND GENERAL MAY LOSE SUPPORT Recd. 5.5 p.m. Paris, Nov. 16. The publication of a letter from M. Thorez to General de Gaulle indicated a sharp split between the Communists and de Gaulle regarding the formation of a Government. The letter said de Gaulle refused the Communists one of the three portfolios, Foreign Office. Interior and War, and cast a doubt on the party's national character. The Communists are maintaining their original demands as the price for participation in the Government. The “Exchange Telegraph’s” correspondent savs it is understood do Gaulle will explain the situation before the Assembly to-day, and either resign, or form a Cabinet containing no Communists.
