At a large gathering given in her honour, Miss Jean Begg, director of war services of the Y.W.C.A. overseas, who returned recently on furlough, paid a tribute to the women of the forces, overseas, who, she said, had to work very hard indeed. Problems confronting women in the forces in foreign lands were enormous, Miss Begg said, and one of the greatest problems of the moment ,v as connected with the girls of India who had suddenly in their hundreds been transferred from their traditional secluded life to the life of the war services.

Forthcoming Concert. Wanganui music lovers are looking forward with pleasure to the third concert of the Wanganui Lad es’ Choir to be given on Wednesday night, November 21, in the’ Old Museum Hall. Mrs. Russell Scoular, Mrs. Ray Perkins and Mr. A. J. W. Hodder are the assisting artists. The proceeds will be donated to the Scots Memorial Hall Fund.
