Cr. W. Craig who has been indisposed, was welcomed back at the Wanganui County Council’s monthly meeting yesterday. Mr. Robert Harper, until recently a sub-editor on the “Sydney Daily Telegraph,’’ has been appointed editor o( the "Labour Daily ” which will begin publication in Wellington on March 4.

Mr. C. Pillin, who has been manager of the Mosgiel branch of the National Bank of New Zealand for the past eight years, has been appointed manager of the Whangarei branch of the bank.

Mr. E. C. Holland, preacher of the Vivian Street Church of Christ, Wellington, who recently came from Australia, will arrive this afternoon to conduct the dedication services at the Church of Christ to-morrow.

Lieutenant-Generai E. Puttick, C.8.E., D. 5.0., N.Z.S.C., who is to tour the North Island before relinquishing his appointment, will arrive at New Plymouth next Friday. He is to inspect the cadets of the New Plymouth Boys’ High School in the afternoon, and at mght he will address all Taranaki officers and former officers of the New Zealand military forces, including those of the Home Guard, at the Returned Services’ Association club rooms. He will speak on the future defence of New Zealand. Lieutenant-General Puttick is cceduled to leave New Plymouth on Saturday morning.
