COLLEGIATE v. TECH. COLLEGE ANNUAL MATH COMMENCED . The first day’s play of the annua! inter-school match between Wanganui Collegiate School took place on the Collegiate ground yesterday afternoon in fine, but windy weather which made conditions unpleasant for both players and spectators. Having first use of the wicket Collegiate School compiled 179 runs with even batting. The innings closed five minutes to s.umps. The match will be resumed to-day at 10.30 a.m. The teams were: Collegiate School: A. S. Paterson (captain), D. McLean, M. R. Tothill, R. J. Salmond, A. M. Adams, J. W. R. Plummer, A. G. Barnitt, M. D. Beat.ie, G. M. Russell, R. R. Babbage, R. L.’ G. Pease. Technical College: A. D. Naigulevu (captain), B. L. Jones, G. Vosailagi, L. Davies, P. R. Williamson. R. W. Webby, N. Reynolds, R. Nelson, N. Christensen, G. Hipango, L. Kydd. Tothill, one of the opening batsmen, played confidently for a sound 46, the highest score of the innings. A fea.ure of the Collegiate batting was the fact that the scoring was evenly distributed, and not as in previous matches left to a few individuals. Bright and compelent displays were given by Plummer (291, Paterson (24), and Pease (24). McLean (15) and Beattie (15) helped the innings with valuable support. The Technical College fielding was smart, only 12 extras being registered in the afternoon's play. The mosl successful trundlers for Technical College were Hipango two for 17, Kidd two for 21, Naigulevu four for 35. and Jones two for 35. Details are as follows: COLLEGIATE SCHOOL First Innings D.
