JUNIOR BANNERETTE AND KEESING CUP O.c. Raetihi, Nov. 13 A team from the Gonville Club on Saturday played a challenge match against the Raetihi Club for the Junior Bannerette, which they won after a closely contested game by 18 to 17. The weather was fine at the commencement, with bright sunshine, but later in the afternoon it clouaed over and there was a slight drizzle during the last two heads. Gonville made a good start, and were leading 14 to 6 on the tenth end. Raetihi then advanced by single points but did not equalise, and on the last, end they were down, Gonville leading by 18 to 16. Gould, the Raetihi skip x managed to gain one of the three points he needed, leaving Gonville ta charge of the trophy. The teams were:—Gonville: Grant, Lyman, Corby, Rainbie, Raetihi: J. J. Chelley, J. F. Toomath, J. W. Harris, R. C. Gould. KEESING CUP MATCH A Taihape team’s challenge for the Keesing Cup held by Ohakune, proved successful, the visitors winning by 18 to 14. The game was played during the week-end in brilliant, sunshiqe and under excellent conditions. The visitors were the superior team, although the game was anyone's until thp 15th end. At that stage Ohakune held the lead. but. Taihape then ran out. winners. The Taihape team consisted of Murphy, Stevens, Calcott and Seccombe. The defenders’ consisted of P. Te Karu, T. Perry, W. Elliot and S. Thomas. It was an excellent day for bowling, and while the Cup game was in progress other members were taking the opportunity to get club competition games over. MAORI TENNIS CLUB The Raetihi Maori Club's Tennis Committee has been most energetic. A working bee has formed a full-sizeu court within the Mangamingi Pan grounds, and it only requires the finishing touches, alter the tar-sealing has been completed. The court should be ready lor use well before Christmas. Three dances at Mangaming’! Pah have supplied the committee with ample firnds. and a large amount of equipment has been purchased. The release by Hie Government of wirenetting has assisted the Club immensely and the court will be enclosed. Tiie president.
