APIARIST COMPLAINS
LEAD SPRAY AFFECTS BEES (P.A.) Hastings, Nov. 15. Well over 1000 hives in the Hastings district must have been affected in greater or less degree as a result of lead-spray poisoning, said an apiarist, Mr. G. F. R. Gordon when condemning the inconsideration shown by orchardists in spraying their trees. “I myself had hives with a be? population of at least 50.000 totally destroyed.” said Mr. Gordon.’ “In all more than 360 of my hives alone were affected in various degrees, from total destruction to reduction in strength, which gives little hop? of any surplus honey. And I am only one of m&iy. Tn all. well ox er 1000 hives must hav? been hit in 1h? ara. but if it does not affect th? orchardists’ pockets it appears it does not matter.”
