CRIME IN SYDNEY
FLARE-UP OF BRUTAL ATTACKS
Recd. 8.5 n.m. Sydney, Nov. 15. In another flare-up of crime in Sydney a young woman was almost throttled and then bashed unconscious by a man who entered her fnt in the suburb of Elizabeth Bay early to-day. 'i ne womfn alleges that while unconscious she was criminally assaulted. A young member of lhe R.A.A.F., who was brutally bashed, kicked in the face and robbed of £lOO in Darlinghurst last night, was back only 24 hours from service in the Islands. Armed with a revolver, a man entered the premises of an electrical firm yesterday and demanded money, but ran away when told there was none in the office. The premises of the firm were only a few yards from the Central Police Station. A search is st'< going on for two bandits who held up a car on the Great Western Highway earlier in the week. Police, provosts and military personnel are engaged In the manhunt. There have been a number of robberies in Sydney this week, including a safe robbery at two hotels, and a nosf office police official said a gang oi clever safe-breakers was at work.
